ILA held “The Network of European Towns Fostering Intercultural Dialogue” project local event on 14 October

A group of youth working on migration met at Villa Aviv to have a workshop designed on role-playing and non-formal learning methods. Participants discussed the status of education, jobs, social life, health services, foods, security on both sides of the German and Polish Border. They made reflections about dream pictures of local people and try to understand the reasons for the “virtual” Polexit wall on this border. In a role-play, there were proponents and opponents on both sides of the border. Participants were encouraged to negotiate and reach an agreement both in and among the countries.

Activity continued with the “Merkel versus Duda” session in which both leaders presented their immigration policy on how to keep citizens in the country and attract qualified immigrants from the neighbour. Political, economic, social and technological factors were reviewed and the importance of fair cooperation was discussed during this session. The workshop ended with a small referendum on the necessity of this Polexit Wall.

The Network of European Towns Fostering Intercultural Dialogue project aims to raise awareness on the richness of the EU cultural environment and promote key European values such as pluralism and tolerance. It fosters intercultural dialogue between diverse communities and political actors in Europe and preventing discrimination and combats the stigmatization of migrants and minority groups.
