The “From Tradition to Innovation” seminar on 12 September 2023 marked a significant stride for the International Labour Association in our continuous efforts to enhance youth workers’ and organisations’ skills and capacities. The event saw an enthusiastic turnout, with youth, artists, and individuals passionate about converging traditional art and innovation. This gathering revitalised the participants’ artistic aspects and fortified ILA’s standing as a bridge between historical crafts and modern employability. The hands-on sessions and the theoretical discourses created an environment of practical learning and cultural appreciation. The feedback from attendees echoed a high level of satisfaction and a strong desire for more such endeavours.

Furthermore, the workshop contributed exponentially to the ILA’s mission of fostering youth employability in specialised sectors. Focusing on niche markets such as Dutch handicrafts has shown promising pathways for youth employment, intertwining cultural heritage with modern market demands. The collaborative environment of the workshop facilitated networking and paved the way for potential partnerships and apprenticeships. It reinforced ILA’s commitment to offering holistic training opportunities, merging skills acquisition with heritage preservation, and ultimately enhancing our participants’ future career prospects in unique and promising sectors.

The seminar had a positive impact on the participants. Youth, artists, and enthusiasts immersed themselves in a transformative experience that bridged the rich legacy of traditional Dutch artistry with the dynamic pulse of modern innovation.
