ILA Visits Directory of Agriculture to Promote Migrant and Refugee Employment in Agriculture
On November 8th, representatives from the International Labour Association (ILA) visited the Directory of Agriculture to present the “Increase the Capacity of Migrants and Refugees in Agriculture Sector” (CAMRAS) project and explore opportunities for collaboration. The visit focused on exchanging ideas about improving the education and working conditions of migrant agricultural workers. ILA representatives engaged in discussions with public officers and farmers about how CAMRAS project outputs could be integrated into existing training activities to benefit both migrant workers and the agricultural sector.
During the visit, participants explored potential avenues for deeper cooperation, particularly in the sustainability activities of the CAMRAS project. The conversation also led to discussions on drafting a new project addressing seasonal agricultural workers’ challenges. The visit concluded with a visit to the Directory’s research and development greenhouse. Parties agreed on the importance of utilizing the project’s outputs to enhance training initiatives and foster long-term support for migrant workers’ integration and well-being in the agricultural sector.
