ILA attended the International Volunteer Service Exchange Conference
ILA represented National Volunteering Committee at International Volunteer Service Exchange Conference organized by the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme, China International Center for Economic and Technical Exchanges (CICETE), and Beijing Volunteer Service Federation (BVF).
The Conference took place in Beijing, the People’s Republic of China, on 12-14 December 2017 and focused on volunteering as a driving force to support Sustainable Development Goals and South-South Cooperation along with the “Belt and Road Initiative” (BRI). The co-hosting organizations brought leading partners from BRI countries, volunteer-involving organizations, academics, private sectors and UN entities for peer learning, sharing best practices in an increasingly globalized environment. The conference spotlighted urban development, humanitarian aid, community resilience and academic research in the context of volunteer service, as well as identified challenges and opportunities for volunteerism through innovative partnerships.
The conference was an opportunity to strengthen and explore new South-South alliances and partnerships. The three-day programme consisted of plenary sessions, parallel sessions, summing-up meetings, and field trips, etc., on topics covering best practices and lessons learned in developing and implementing national and international volunteering programmes. The Conference was an ideal networking opportunity with a broad range of stakeholders involved in international volunteering from around the world.
